Evolution in School

Post  Mega Bear on Wed May 11, 2011 3:11 am

So we're learning about evolution in sciense class right now, and of course there is going to be some objection from the religionfags in this story, but hear me out.

I was working with my ex-girlfriend Kayla (we're very good firends) on a science packet involving evolution, and her two friends are sitting across the table from us. One of them, named Katie, says the EXACT following words: "This whole evolution thing has to have been made up, they can't be serious by saying we were monkeys."

Now I am a democrat so I have no problem with people having different beliefs, but the way Katie said it was so ignorant. She denied scientific facts as a whole so bluntly and blatantly that I became sick to my stomach. How can a single person be so stupid as to reject reality and substitute their own by using petty comment such as the ones stated above. Again, the mainstream Christian sects have science-contradicting views, but when science proves that evolution has taken place over millions of years how can Katie (a straight-A student!) plainly say evolution is fake?--especially when there are in fact Lutheran sects that approve of evolution.

Posted this on Facebook and the Minecraft forum too because it is bugging the hell out of me.

Evolution is real. We wouldn't be where we are now if it wasn't real. We would all be single-celled creatures that shit and piss water and air if it wasn't real.

You've failed to acknowledge the simplistic Christianic reasoning; God made everything, end of story. While I believe there is a possibility that both creationism and evolutionism can co-exist and have taken place at the same time (if you're lost, I'm saying it's possible God created evolution), I find it pitiful any human being in the modern era could reject reality as stated in the OP.

Stupid Christians: "God made everything."
Smart Christians: "God made all life as we know it, though it was a long and painful journey as depicted in the Bible, therefore it is realistic. In fact, it does not contradict anything but science, which is still very controversial to begin with."
Evolutionists: "Life was created by evolution, which took over three billion years and has been proven time and time again through science, so objectors are idiots.
Some people: "Creationism and evolutionism can co-exist; maybe God created evolution?"

Bottom line: The Christian philosophy is idiotic in the purest form if used incorrectly, and anyone that portrays it this way is the a degenerative dolt.

God I hope so, anyone who declines evolution is inferior, and I usually don't call people inferior at all due to my humanist views ... but saying fact is opinion is just stupid.

I think all these religious science wars are a waste of time.
There are no proofs for some religious things as there are non for some science things.
Evolution is a fact though, it has been proven time and time again, yet people are still too ignorant to understand it and deny it just because they don't understand it.
Answers a lot...

Speaking of facts, the topic I made for this on the Minecraft forum has been turned into a mindfuck about the difference between fact and theories, yet how they are the same thing.

I believe that we all came from somewhere.

However, to say that humans came from anything besides a "god" would sound a bit dumb to me. The only way humans can be made is through sexual reproduction.

If we came from monkeys, don't you think we would still be coming from them?

I believe there is a "god" but not the one that churches decipher. In all honesty, nobody knows, so there is no reason to start a fight about it.
The bible is always right? Anyone can write a book, and it only takes a few followers to get a bandwagon started. Yes, I think religion is a bandwagon. They try to get you to join my scaring you into death. "YOU WILL BURN IN HELL IF YOU DONT BE GOOD" is basically equal to saying "SANTA WILL PUT COAL IN YOUR STOCKING IF YOU BE BAD!"

I think religion was created so people would have something to believe in.

This is just my opinion. I personally believe there is a "god" but I do not think that you have to listen to "church music" and "not smoke" to go to "heaven".
Until we die, we will truly never know, and lets leave it at that. Someone having an opinion such as religion is just as the same as someone liking the color red, and the other, liking blue. But yet, people treat religion with importance, because to our world, "death" is ultimately the strongest factor that can change us, so religion is created.

If this make no sense to you, don't worry, it doesn't make much sense to me, but thats how I see it.

I believe that there are higher races, but no "God". There can be races in the universe that we may see as such when in reality they are highly advanced.
No offence to worshipers of anything out there c:
